“Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for each dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn’t carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life.”
― Stephen King
Every year I make a pact to read more. I plan to continue this pursuit in 2019. Here is what is on the bookshelf right now:
Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport
How to Break Up with Your Phone by Catherine Price
The Unwinding of the Miracle: A Memoir of Life, Death and Everything that Comes After by Julie Yip-Williams
Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult
Alternate Side by Anna Quindlen
Outer Order, Inner Calm by Gretchen Rubin
Inheritance by Dani Shapiro
What is on your bookshelf?
Half way through digital minimalism… there seems to be a resurgence of the necessity of time to ruminate on a bunch of channels I consume. Curious if you think time alone with your thoughts is the same as mediatation or if they fulfill different needs.
I have Gretchen’s on my short-list to read soon.
Inheritance is a wonderful book. My friend was adopted, and she had to read it slowly because it affected her so much.
