I like to do this meme from time to time. This is what is happening in my world, right now:
What I Am Listening To: I am listening to Kelly Clarkson’s new album, Meaning of Life. She has a fun vibe and also mixes in powerful ballads. I tend to turn on the radio in the car and love listening to upbeat hip-hop tunes. I am not much of a dancer, but I will certainly jam out in the driver’s seat of my Civic. When I run, I try to catch up on my podcasts – here are a few I am listening to right now – Happier in Hollywood, Tim Ferriss, Creative Nonfiction with Brendan O’Meara.
What I Am Watching: We are watching the Australian Open and the match between Lauren Davis and Simona Halep proved to be the best tennis I’ve witnessed – both women exhibited good sportsmanship, grit and perseverance. I am especially thankful my daughter watched with us. I know I might be late to the party, but I absolutely adore The Crown. I have one episode left in Season 2, but I am saving it when Season 3 is released. How to Get Away With Murder and Scandal are back and of course, Viola Davis is magnificent as usual. Oscar nominations were just released and I hope to catch some of these movies in the next few weeks.
What I Am Reading: I just finished reading, Tell Me More by Kelly Corrigan and Who Will Run the Frog Hospital by Lorrie Moore. Both were excellent and Moore pushes me to become a better writer. Next on tap is Exit West by Mohsin Hamid and Finish by Jon Acuff. For daily reading, I am making a point to read poetry. Right now, I am reading Devotions by Mary Oliver. I am also reading the essays we are debuting on The Sunlight Press.
What I Am Capturing: My freelancing has me writing about food lately, so I’ve captured several fun entrees. Of course that doesn’t mean I am not paying attention to the sky. You will find my nature photography on my Instagram account.
What I Am Loving: Saying No. Family. Tennis tournaments. Bullet journaling. Waking up early. Setting goals. Leaning to move gracefully through rejection.
What’s currently going on in your world?
I love Happier in Hollywood. It is so casual and unpretentious and helpful.
I’ve been learning to say no too. It feels weird! sometimes it’s just way too much for me and as long as I know that ahead of time.
And I’m talking driving 8 hours for one quick photo session based around one toddler’s nap! Nope.
