I am a voracious reader and every week I come across either a book, online piece or website I want to share with others. I’ve decided to curate these gems and highlight them on Friday. I hope you find these faves as insightful as I do.
- Would you wear the same clothes everyday? Matilda Kahl on Why I Wear the Exact Same Thing to Work Every Day.
- Are you facing an important decision and don’t know what to do? Maybe this short piece will help – The 5 Most Important Questions to Ask Yourself When at a Crossroads.
- We always focus on likability, but what are the 9 Things that Make You Unlikable?
- Should you write every day? Annie Scholl interviews Beth Kephart on her thoughts about the creative process.
What were your favorite reads this week?
I love the questions to ask yourself at a crossroads.
I remember putting thought into what I wore to work! Ah, those days are long gone, although for photography jobs, I still do.
I’ve heard an interview with Matilda Kahl about having a work “uniform.” That certainly makes mornings much simpler and saves decision fatigue. I love that she didn’t worry about what her co-workers thought. She just did what she felt was right for her.
It is a liberating premise, isn’t it? Her philosophy is an automatic pathway to encourage us to pay attention to more important things.
Thanks for these, Rudri. I especially liked the piece by Matilda Kahl. When my husband and I made the personal decision to take our kids out of the local public school and place them in a private school, one thing I immediately appreciated was less morning stress regarding the kids’ wardrobe. My kids love their school and have yet to complain about wearing a uniform every day. Maybe that is because they are still so young or maybe it’s because they focus on their classmates and schoolwork instead of their clothing. Whatever the reason, what to wear has yet to cause any stress or make anyone late for class, so it certainly has worked for us!
Dolores,
I am glad that you liked my featured faves. It is refreshing to not have those early morning school battles on what to wear and I think it makes the flow of getting out the door more palatable. Thanks for adding your thoughts.
