Every month I chronicle those ordinary delights that give me comfort or offer a place of reflection or joy. Here are my everyday delights for March:
1. March Madness – When March Madness starts, I enjoy filling out my bracket and picking the “winner” of the NCAA tournament. Playing my bracket in the basketball pool, rooting for specific teams and anticipating who will win is always interesting and unexpected. Which team will take this year’s Madness crown? My vote is for Gonzaga.
2. Audible: I am trying to increase the number of books I read and my friend Nina Badzin recommended Audible in her post, “How to Read More Books This Year.” Initially, I felt skeptical about listening to my books, but I love hearing words during my morning run. For those who want to sample Audible, you can sign-up and receive 2 free credits without making a longterm commitment.
3. Live tennis: For the last two Spring Break’s we’ve enjoyed watching pro tennis players compete in Palm Springs. There is something relaxing about watching live tennis. We were fortunate enough to catch some of the greatest in action – Federer, Nadal and Wawrinka.
4. The arrival of Spring: One of the loveliest times of the year in the desert is in March. I know I’ve spoke of my ambivalence regarding this month, but there is also so much goodness. I photographed this bloom on a morning walk.
What were your everyday delights in March?
We have had five straight days of cold rain but the sun is out today! It’s only 50 but that feels at least like spring is coming.
And regarding live tennis, I’m not sure I’ve ever had the pleasure? Cassidy loves March Madness, though.
Glad the weather is turning warmer, Tamara. That is a good sign spring is coming and I am certain you will have the opportunity to take some wonderful snapshots.
Those cactus blossoms are one of mine. And having fun with my best friend from junior high.
I love spending time with my oldest friends. It feels familiar and comfortable (even if we haven’t seen each other in a long time). Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing my post!
I love listening to books during my walks and driving. Great pic of spring 🙂
Thanks, Ayala. I find that it is a great way to relax.
