I do this meme from time to time and I thought it might be fun to revisit it again. This is what is happening in my world, right now:
What I Am Listening To: Right now, I am listening to James Arthur’s, Back from the Edge album. I love the song, “Say You Won’t Let Go.” His voice is soulful and works well with the guitar. In recent weeks, I’ve revisited Andra Day’s, Rise Up. It’s my personal anthem in times of melancholy.
What I Am Watching: Oh, how I enjoy the acting of Viola Davis in How to Get Away with Murder. She’s a strong woman and isn’t afraid to claim every single ounce of it. She leaves nothing on the table. I am trying to power my way through all the Oscar nominated movies. I’ve seen Lion, Hell or High Water, La La Land, Hidden Figures and Arrival. All five of these movies were powerful – The writing in Hell or High Water offered crisp dialogue, sentimentality and characters I will likely remember years from now.
What I Am Reading: I’ve made it a priority to read again, consistently. Right now, I am reading, Insomniac City: New York, Oliver, and Me by Bill Hayes, Hillbilly Elegy b J.D. Vance, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, and Swing Time by Zadie Smith. I urge you to check out an insightful review of Smith’s book on The Sunlight Press.
What I Am Capturing: I am still looking at the sky. It captivates and enchants. This weekend I spotted a rainbow, while today the entire sky appeared as a gloaming. I am in the middle of some transitions and uncertainty, but moving forward because that is all I know how to do. My compass is still pointing inward and it’s taught me to reflect on some important, but startling truths.
What I Am Loving: I am loving my Bullet Journal. It’s not only fun, but keeps me organized. I am podcasting and reading, working on The Sunlight Press and sinking into silence.
What I Am Missing: My father.
What’s currently going on in your world?
I really like this type of post, and so much to check out here! Thank you for these recommendations!
My pleasure, Valorie. Hope you find something to love in the links.
Love these lists! 🙂
Thanks, Kristen!
You’re podcasting?! Where?
“Podcasting” for me means listening to podcasts! Sorry for the confusion.
I have seen Lala Land, Arrival, and Manchester by the Sea. One thing I noticed about all of them was that they move very slowly. This must be an “au courant” thing with films right now. I did love Lala Land, although the singing wasn’t what I expected from a musical ;). But the music was fabulous, and I loved the style of the movie.
Oops, love the Andra Day, too! Thanks.
The singing wasn’t stellar – Like you I did enjoy the musical score. My favorite is “Epilogue.” I loved the concept of time in Arrival and overall every movie I’ve seen has offered something to contemplate.
I think we have music in common! I’ve been listening to James Arthur quite a bit lately. “Rise Up” comes on Pandora a lot – I’ll have to give it a listen.
I didn’t see Lion but I have been trying!
His music is great. You must check out Lion (be certain to bring some Kleenex!).
aww good list! Hugs.
Thanks, Ayala!
Love the peek into your world. Someone was just telling me about Hillbilly Elegy, and I’ve been reading Kristin Hannah lately too! Take care.
My husband and a few friends recommended J. D. Vance’s book – the reviews are favorable. I hope you enjoy perusing the other links. Have a good week, Jennifer!
I love how these posts are organized.
