Every month I chronicle those ordinary delights that give me comfort or offer a place of reflection or joy. Here are my everyday delights for July:
1. This makeshift standing desk from Oristand: In my research I’ve learned standing desks are expensive, but sitting for long periods of time while writing isn’t a healthy option either. What is the answer? My husband found the Oristand, a solution that works for my health and pocketbook. At only $25 it is a steal. I’ve used it for the past few weeks and love it.
2. This photo opportunity in Chicago: I had the chance to take this photograph during a short trip to Chicago. Photography is my favorite part of traveling, experiencing different sites and capturing unique images.
3. Artwork from my daughter: Gone are the days when my little girl brought home several pages of artwork from school. This recent piece by my daughter from one of her summer camps helped me remember the nostalgic days of her youth.
4. The Baked Bear: Summertime is all about ice cream. We love getting a few scoops of ice cream + a cookie (sometimes) at this local ice cream place. Its only been opened for a couple of months, but we’ve decided it’s a family favorite.
What were your everyday delights for July?
That standing workstation looks great! I’m not sure if you are a fan of podcasts but I just listed to a great Fresh Air podcast with Omar from The Wire. Was definitely a July “delight” for me and wanted to pass on to others.
My husband is a huge fan of podcasts and I am slowly following his lead. I will check out your recommendation, Amy. Thanks so much!
My friend recently got A varidesk (I think that’s what it’s called) and loves it.
I love your daughter’s sun!
The standing desks do facilitate more movement. It also changes the way I write. It’s been an interesting experiment.
Rudri, thank you! I just ordered this desk :).
Hope the desk is a good fit for you, Luanne. Keep me posted.
Ooh! ALL delightful!
Thanks, Nina!
I want to go to The Baked Bear! I love your daughter’s artwork. I think watching it develop over the years has been such a pleasure of parenting.
And Cassidy has a standing desk. Swears by it!
I am enjoying my standing desk. Yes, I love how the artwork evolves through time. It’s fun to witness this growth.
Great Chicago pic! All delightful!
Thanks, Ayala.
