I am a voracious reader and every week I come across either a book, online piece or website I want to share with others. I’ve decided to curate these gems and highlight them on Friday. I hope you find these faves as insightful as I do.
- I love Joanna Goddard’s Cup of Jo. The year is winding down and she recently posted this piece on 26 Things Every Person Should Do for Themselves Once a Year. Some of the recommendations: take yourself out to dinner alone, visit a new city or rearrange your space. Check out the post to see what made this list and other options you might consider.
- One my passions in life is to maintain organization in my space. Order is something I crave and the website, Unclutterer is one of my favorite places to find novel information on how to keep surroundings tidy and neat.
- Lisa Sadikman is a writer I adore. Her words are visceral and lyrical and she often carves out these rich metaphors that linger days after you read her work. Her piece this week, The Right Side of Grateful resonated with me. These lines especially touched me: “Every once in a while we’re pulled out of our tiny lives to marvel at the vastness of the universe, the miracle of it, really. There hanging in the sky was immutable proof of the earth spinning, the moon too and that sometimes our paths whirl so close to one another that it seems we are within reach.”
- Gift giving season is in full swing. My go-to gifts often involve books. Check out Parnassus bookstore recommendations on what books to gift your loved ones.
What are some of your favorite reads this week?

Thanks, Ayala. Hope you enjoy them. xo
Thank you for sharing your gems. I always find interesting reading from your recommendations!
I love your lists, always. Lisa’s post is so powerful (I tried to comment but it would not let me, but wow) and I’m off to read the book recommendations now.
Thanks so much, Rudri!
I am drawn to your description of the work of Lisa Sadikman and want to rush forth and order her book!
Trish
Glad you enjoyed my list, Trish. Thanks for commenting.
Joanna’s list is pretty wonderful – I love #6 where she says: identify what you need and give it to others. How what we feel we need is usually what we’re not providing to others. Pretty in depth stuff! Thanks for sharing Rudri and have a great weekend! -Iva
Joanna’s list is interesting and insightful. Glad you found some time to visit and reflect. Have a good weekend, Iva!
Thank you so much for including me in your Friday Faves Rudri – so honored and grateful. I’m excited to read the 26 Things Every Person Should Do for Themselves article. I need a few pointers. xo
My pleasure, Lisa. I love your work and enjoyed highlighting your prose and insight. xo
Hi Rudri! I’m hoping to catch up on your blog.
I love the list of 26 things and it inspires me to think of some as well. So easy to just go day-to-day without taking care of ourselves. I also subscribed to the decluttering site – it’s a goal of mine to work on my space!
I hope you’ve been well!
Cecilia,
Oh, what a surprise to see your name in my comment queue. SO glad you stopped by and hope all is going well with you. I’ll be sending you an email soon. xo
I love your Friday Faves, Rudri. You always have a list of gems that get me thinking. I haven’t been to the Cup of Jo site, but I’m heading over there now to get some more suggestions on taking care of myself. I need to do it. 🙂
Have a great week!
Jackie,
Happy to hear that you enjoy my faves. I think we all need reminders to take care of ourselves – especially during the holidays – Jo’s piece comes at the right time. Happy reading!
