I am a voracious reader and every week I come across either a book, online piece or website I want to share with others. I’ve decided to curate these gems and highlight them on Friday. I hope you find these faves as insightful as I do.
- After looking at these photographs, you may question your need to stare at your phone, tablet or computer. Photographer Eric Pickersgill removed electronic devices from snapshots of couples and families to demonstrate our technology addiction.
- What happens to people who die alone? Who knows their stories? The New York Times investigates the following premise in its piece, The Lonely Death of George Bell – “In discovering a death, you find a life story and perhaps meaning. Could anything in the map of George Bell’s existence have explained his lonely end? Possibly not. But it was true that George Bell died carrying some secrets. Secrets about how he lived and secrets about who mattered most to him. Those secrets would bring sorrow. At the same time, they would deliver rewards. Death does that. It closes doors but also opens them.”
- I love personality tests and enjoyed answering this quiz to determine my Meyers-Briggs type indicator. I am a INTJ. Find out what you are by taking this personality test.
- What ingredients make a friendship last? I’ve always adored the subject of friendship. The Atlantic offers interesting insights in this piece, “How Friendships Change in Adulthood.”
What are some of your favorite reads this week?
I am a INFJ on the Meyers-Briggs. Try taking this one http://lonerwolf.com/psychological-archetype-test/ It is very interesting and it kind of helps explain how we create and act/react in the world. I was not surprised on part yet a little surprised with some of the results.
Thanks for the rec, Susan. Will definitely check it out.
I’m obsessed with the MBTI as you may recall. I’m an INFJ. Both of my kids did tests this summer and I was oddly – probably overly – proud that I had guessed them both right. xox
I love those personality tests. I can’t remember mine exactly but everything I read about it rings totally true.
I’m always fascinated by friendships changing, lasting, fleeting, whatever. So fascinating.
I am an ISTJ for the personality test, same as Natalie Portman. 🙂 I always forget mine but I always remember teh association with her which helps me remember. Lol Those photos of the electronic devices removed are powerful. We are very dependent on our technology and even in my household it is a true statement but I try to restrict it on all counts. I am careful to not have my phone as my focal point when with my son, nor with my partner but it can definitely be a straining point in the relationship. Have a great one Rudri! Take Care -Iva
