The books in my life appear everywhere: on the shelves of my office, nightstand and purse. I travel with books since the privilege and opportunity to read welcomes me in the most unexpected moments. Here is what is currently on my bookshelf:
Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling
Big Magic: Creative Living by Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert
Rising Strong by Brene Brown
A Window Opens by Elisabeth Egan
Teatime for the Firefly by Shona Patel
What are you reading this month?
Putting most of these on my reading list right now. And thank you so much for the link in response to my last comment!
Your welcome! Hope you enjoy the podcast, Dakota.
I didn’t realize Mindy Kaling had a new book out! Awesome. Love her. I just finished 11/22/63 by Stephen King and now I am mildly obsessed with him. I don’t like scary stuff so I’ve never read anything by him before — but it was so good! I think I may read On Writing next.
So far, Mindy hasn’t disappointed. Her words are funny and insightful. On Writing is one of my favorite craft books. You will find great practical writing advice in his words. I confess I haven’t read any King fiction, but I may check out 11/22/63. Thanks for the rec!
Cannot WAIT to read Big Magic. Loved her podcasts.
I have a stack from the library right now. Finishing The Rocks. Next up: Circling the Sun and The Unfortunates.
On my way to bookstore today to buy Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff- one of my all-time favorite authors.
I am so excited Gilbert is visiting the desert in October and can’t wait to dive into Big Magic. I will definitely check out Fate and Furies. The title is intriguing. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing your list, Rudri! You always have some great recommendations. Feeling like I’ve got an odd mix, now that I look at my current stack: I’m reading Jenny Milchman’s thriller As Night Falls, M L Stedman’s The Light Between Oceans, and George Saunders’ short story collection Tenth of December.
Your list is filled with variety. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Saunder’s short story collection.
I read Mindy’s first book — please report back on the second one! I have a post coming out tomorrow about what I read in September. Maybe you’ll check it out 😉
I can’t wait to see your list, Kristen! So far Mindy’s book is great. Will keep you posted.
Thanks for sharing these. I’m always interested in what others are reading. You are one of the people reading Station Eleven, I believe, when I was looking for something new… 😉 Creative Living by Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert is on my wishlist.
