Friday Favorites

I am a voracious reader and every week I come across either a book or an online piece I want to share with others. I’ve decided to curate these gems and share them on Friday. I hope you find these faves as insightful as I do.

  • Zen Habits is a site I adore and this week I loved what Leo Babauta says about the morning time and how it is crucial to implementing new habits. His advice – whatever is most important to you, do it first thing in the morning.
  • “BUT YOU ARE ALIVE!!!! Alive! Each day is a glory, especially if upright and able to move with ease, without pain.” Read NY Times Was it Cancer? Getting the Diagnosis  – one woman’s account on how she derived strength in an uncertain time. Must read piece with sage advice.
  • When Marriage Feels Heavy is an honest account by Allison Barrett Carter on the joys and sorrows of matrimony. I appreciate Allison’s candor and authenticity in talking about the messy and the beautiful.
  • “I cannot pretend I am without fear. But my predominant feeling is one of gratitude. I have loved and been loved; I have been given much and I have given something in return; I have read and traveled and thought and written.” Oliver Sacks  – His words and presence will be deeply missed. I loved this tribute from Brain Pickings on his contributions.
