I am a voracious reader and every week I come across either a book or an online piece I want to share with others. I’ve decided to curate these gems and share them on Friday. I hope you find these faves as insightful as I do.
- Zen Habits is a site I adore and this week I loved what Leo Babauta says about the morning time and how it is crucial to implementing new habits. His advice – whatever is most important to you, do it first thing in the morning.
- “BUT YOU ARE ALIVE!!!! Alive! Each day is a glory, especially if upright and able to move with ease, without pain.” Read NY Times Was it Cancer? Getting the Diagnosis – one woman’s account on how she derived strength in an uncertain time. Must read piece with sage advice.
- When Marriage Feels Heavy is an honest account by Allison Barrett Carter on the joys and sorrows of matrimony. I appreciate Allison’s candor and authenticity in talking about the messy and the beautiful.
- “I cannot pretend I am without fear. But my predominant feeling is one of gratitude. I have loved and been loved; I have been given much and I have given something in return; I have read and traveled and thought and written.” Oliver Sacks – His words and presence will be deeply missed. I loved this tribute from Brain Pickings on his contributions.
What are some of your Friday favorites?
These sound like great finds! I love that last quote by Oliver Sacks, it’s very humbling. I do a Sunday round up of great finds from the week but I am so behind this week, I can’t believe it’s already Friday! Have a great one!
Angela,
Glad you liked the quote by Oliver Sacks. It does put things in perspective. Hope you have a good weekend as well.
Happy Friday! Thank you for sharing your favorite!
Have a great weekend, Ayala! xo
Thank you for sharing, Rudri. Hopping over to read a couple of these now… 🙂
Hope you enjoy reading these posts, Dakota!
Thank you so much for including my post. I am honored!
My pleasure, Allison! Glad to feature you. Thanks for writing the post.
Allison’s post was my favorite of the week for sure. It stayed with me. It’s heavy, but I like it.
Now to read the others!
So glad to know what you are loving. Off to read now!
Great faves list Rudri! I’m on a course-addiction with Udemy right now.. so it’s a ton of HTML/CSS stuff. Lol. I’m not as avid a reader as I used to be due to my limited attention span and focus. Something I work on but eh. I start things but never finish. It’s a probs. Hope you enjoy the last weekend of summer Rudri! Take Care -iva
Thanks, Iva. Good luck on your course and enjoy your time as summer winds down.
Great finds, thank you for sharing. I particularly love the zen habits of morning time. As long as I can remember I’ve been a night owl and I want to be the morning bird. I have started reading the The Miracle Morning Journal to help me through.
Wish you a lovely weekend.
Rekha – I will have to check out the journal you mentioned. Thanks so much!
